ASTM B265 is the standard specification for titanium and titanium-alloy strip, sheet and plate. If you buy flat titanium products, this is the spec your mill test certificate will most often reference.
Scope
B265 covers rolled flat product — strip, sheet and plate — in commercially pure and alloy grades, supplied in the annealed condition unless otherwise agreed.
Common Grades Under B265
- Grade 1, 2, 3, 4 — commercially pure
- Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) — high strength
- Grade 7, 11, 12, 16, 17 — corrosion-enhanced (Pd / Ni-Mo)
What B265 Specifies
- Chemical composition limits per grade
- Mechanical properties: tensile strength, yield, elongation
- Thickness/flatness tolerances
- Test methods and certification
What to State When Ordering
- Grade and condition (e.g. Grade 2, annealed)
- Dimensions: thickness × width × length
- Surface finish (descaled / pickled / polished)
- Certification: EN 10204 3.1 mill test report
Related flat-product standards include ASTM B348 (bar/billet) and AMS 4911/4928 for aerospace.
